Music Therapy groups with Harmony Garden run for 45 minutes in all early childhood settings. Groups typically consist of 12-18 children; this number allows for better therapeutic outcomes and participation within the group setting. We ask that teachers and support staff participate in the groups alongside the children, this helps the staff learn methods for using musical interventions in the classroom when the therapists are not present. The groups focus on non-musical goals such as increasing self-expression, socialization, appropriate peer interactions, increasing language skills (verbal and non-verbal), and behavior management.
- Funds for GSRP classes can be awarded to sub participants based on the MDE guidelines. Approval from MDE is required to add special guest instructors, as they feel it does not automatically meet the PQA consistent daily routine.
