As we’ve entered into the new year, I’ve been reflecting on the things that inspired me, motivated me, and brought a sense of wellness and joy into my life this past year. From podcasts that challenged my perspective to music that fueled my creativity. Here’s a roundup of my favorite discoveries from 2024. I hope they bring a spark to your 2025!
Podcasts That Kept Me Grounded and Inspired
- Curiously Guided with Mariah Magazine and Shay Schindler – https://www.curiouslyguided.com/
A podcast for intentional business owners and curious minds, this show blends the inner work of self-discovery with the outer work of building a fulfilling and aligned life or career. It’s perfect for those who want to integrate heart and strategy. - Not Nice. Clever with Kat and Candice – https://www.notniceclever.com/
A go-to for introverted entrepreneurs looking to level up in their mindset, personal brand, and finances. Kat and Candice’s witty banter and actionable advice kept me coming back for more. - We Can Do Hard Things with Glennon Doyle – https://wecandohardthingspodcast.com/
This deeply human podcast is a reminder that we’re all navigating challenges, big and small. Glennon and her guests tackle everything from setting boundaries to finding peace and purpose. - Tarot for the Wild Soul with Lindsay Mack – https://www.tarotforthewildsoul.com/about-the-podcast
Tarot through a compassionate, trauma-informed lens. Lindsay Mack’s thoughtful exploration of the cards brings clarity and depth, whether you’re a seasoned tarot reader or just curious about the practice. I personally enjoy it as an inspiration to think outside of the box and expand my spiritual connection.
Albums and Playlists That Lit My Fire
- Toni Jones
“Affirmations for the Grown Ass Woman” was a fun find for me this year. The track “Worth Ethic” became my pre-workout anthem to wake up with. I’ve also started exploring her 2021 album Me VS Every Me – Affirmations of Self Love. The opening track “Run In” is great motivation! - FKJ (French Kiwi Juice)
A serendipitous discovery during my travels to Monterrey, Mexico. Alberto, a high end spa consultant, who whisked me into a seat for a facial and a glass of wine (ask me sometime for the full story), introduced me to FKJ’s soulful blend of electronic, jazz, and instrumental mastery. His self-titled album and full discography have been a go-to for me. You can check out my Monterrey playlist for more vibes I was introduced to on this trip: Spotify Playlist. - Settle Into Stillness – Jeremy Arndt
Jeremy Arndt is a talented handpan musician whose work is perfect for meditation or relaxation. My dear friend Kimberly Joy Rieli, whom I partnered with for sound healings in 2024, is setting out to tour with him this winter! I’ve put together a Spotify playlist featuring his soothing music: Spotify Playlist. - Chappell Roan
I’d be omitting some JAMS if I didn’t mention Chappell Roan. Her album was my go-to for months after she blew up this past summer. It’s packed with energy and unforgettable tracks that kept me coming back for more.
Body Wellness Habits That Transformed My Year
- Beachbody Workouts
Since 2020, I’ve been working out in my basement sometime around 6am most days, and it’s been life-changing. I was never a workout girlie, but have found a love of lifting weights or doing Pilates and yoga workouts. My routine of working out 3–4 days a week has been incredible for my motivation and mental health. I’m in a small accountability group with women locally on facebook – message me if you are interested in joining us! (No Beachbody association required.) - Veggies MOST!
After years of following Weight Watchers and living the “diet life” in order to lose weight or feel healthy, I’ve shifted to a mindset of incorporating veggies MOST in my meals. It’s not about perfection but about building habits for myself and my family—though prying ramen noodles from my 9-year-old’s hands is still a challenge (LOL!). And, I love food… with indulgence occasionally or in moderation and veggies MOST! - Gardening
My husband takes the lead on planting, weeding, and keeping the deer at bay, but the fruits (and veggies) of our labor are worth it. I love making fresh salsas and dishes straight from our yard. This year, I even grew loofa! Using my own homegrown loofa in the shower and for dishes has been such a fun experience. - Sound Healings:
I was fortunate enough to attend sound healings as well as to facilitate some! It’s not always easy to get away for self-care, but I highly recommend doing this for yourself. It’s a gift you won’t regret giving yourself. I’m hoping to do more sound healing (and attend some for myself) in 2025—so watch for more with me or ones I recommend!
Looking Ahead
As I gear up for 2025, I’m taking these inspirations with me to fuel new projects and deepen my connection to music and wellness. I have more plans for music listening, learning, and performing. Also, travel… I can’t wait to tell you more about my musical endeavors as they come this year!
If any of these resonate with you, I’d love to hear your thoughts or recommendations for what’s inspiring you lately. Let’s step into the new year with open hearts and ears!
Happy New Year,
Jaime
