Resource Round-Up: Songs about Handwashing, Masks, and Social Distancing
Now that we are getting closer to a time when we can all congregate again, we wanted to share some of our favorite songs, written by musicians and music therapists, to help talk about a few COVID-19 related topics that might be new to some of our clients.
When we all get together again, some of us may be wearing masks. This can look a little strange at first, but the important thing to remember is why we wear them. Here’s a song written by Ms. Danni at MSB Music Therapy to the tune of “I’m a Believer” all about why people who can wear masks, should wear masks.
Masks hide our facial expressions, which can sometimes be worrisome to anyone who doesn’t understand that our smile is just underneath the mask. Here’s a song that explains how masks can be fun because you can give people secret smiles. The song was written by Dessiree Luong, MT-BC.
Looking for a fun way to get your kids to actually want to wash their hands? Well, get ready to have Baby Shark stuck in your head all over again because Pinkfong! Is back at it again with a Wash Your Hands with Baby Shark video!
Or for the adults in our lives, here’s a great reminder from Neil Diamond to wash your hands with…Sweet Caroline!
One of the hardest parts of coming back together will be stressing the importance of continuing to social distance. Here’s a fun social distance song called “The Social Distance Shimmy” sung to the tune of “The Twist” written by Kaiti Shelton and Christine Nance, two music therapists at Hillcroft Music Therapy.
We love these songs and hope that you find them a great resource to teach our loved ones the importance of social distancing, hand washing, and masks as we begin transitioning back into the general public.
