Today’s staff highlight is one of our full time music therapists: Renae! If you’ve ever been in the office while she’s in session, you’ve probably heard her beautiful voice throughout the space. Hearing her sing is a joy and brings Renae joy both in sessions and out of them (did you know she loves to do open mic nights?) Renae is one of our full time music therapists in the office and she runs many sessions from sprouts classes to sessions with our SED waiver clients to our Thursday Creative Connections program for adults with disabilities. Renae has a way of making every client feel welcome and seen. Her smile and warmth towards our families means that she is loved by everyone that gets the privilege of working with her.
In the office, Renae maintains that welcome and warmth by easily creating friendships with all of her other co-workers. She is quick to ask how everyone is doing, provide a funny story, or give support in whatever way she can. Renae is a valued member of the Harmony Garden team and we all greatly love working with her.
Q: If you could have lunch with any musician in history, who would it be?
A: Whitney Houston – hands down
Q: What is something you love to do outside of work?
A: Open mic nights and spending time with my daughter
Q: What inspired you to explore music therapy?
A: I wanted to do special education or music education and music therapy is the perfect mix of both worlds!
Q: What’s your favorite part of your job?
A: Seeing the progress that my clients make throughout the course of therapy.
