Concerts at the Park

In the summers we offer monthly free concerts at the park for our families. These concerts are fun for all ages and include family-friendly music that everyone is guaranteed to enjoy. The concerts are held on the third Tuesday of each month and are held at the Rotary Band Shell at Cascades Park.

Lifeways Community Mental Health – Stress Less

Drop-Ins welcome, no registration required.
Stress affects us all but with the right coping skills we can decrease the negative effect on our mental health. Come join LifeWays in our weekly stress less activities including music therapy and art classes to reduce stress. Participate in fun activities, eat healthy snacks and learn about community resources to decrease stress!
This event is on every Thursday from May 2022 – December 15. 2022.

Disabilities Day at the Fair – Thursday, August 11

Last year, the Jackson County Fair held their first annual event for individuals with disabilities. They closed the fair to just them in the morning hours and are planning “stations” people can stop at for activities, sensory fun, etc.in addition to animals, rides, food they will participate in. Harmony Garden will be a vendor at this event and we look forward to seeing all of you out there!

Drop-In Music Therapy for Adults with Disabilities

Once a month, Harmony Garden Music Therapy Services offers a themed Drop-In Music Therapy Group. This group is specifically for teens and adults with special needs, and all levels of abilities are welcome! Group members will have the opportunity to play a variety of instruments, to sing, dance, and have a fun filled 50 minutes of social music making! All of our music interventions are success-oriented, so no prior musical training is needed.

We meet on the 2nd Tuesday of each month from 6:30-7:30pm — come join in on the music fun!

DIY Instrument Craft Videos

During the pandemic, Harmony Garden came out with a YouTube series with step-by-step instructions on how to create a variety of different homemade DIY instruments at home. These videos are fun for all ages and can be completely personalized by everyone in your family. We had videos on egg shakers, maracas, ocean drums, kazoos, rain sticks, and more!

Relaxation and Wellness Videos

Another result of the pandemic, was that Harmony Garden curated a series of videos sponsored by Lifeways Stress Less and the Kresge UMRC. These videos are aimed at Adults, Teens, and Children and have music activities with therapeutic goals in mind: relaxation, movement, exercise, and self-expression.

Lifeways SEDW and Children’s Medicaid Waiver

*Free for Children Who Receive the SEDW or the Children’s Medicaid Waiver through Lifeways Community Mental Health*

If your child has been diagnosed and receives services through the SED waiver or the Children’s Medicaid Waiver through Lifeways Community Mental Health, your child qualifies to receive music therapy paid through these waivers! That makes the cost free for families – no out of pocket copays. Talk to your case manager at Lifeways to see if you qualify for a music therapy assessment session today.
