Aging Population Services
Supporting seniors and their families through compassionate music therapy
OUR APPROACH
Comprehensive Care for Aging Adults
Our Music Therapy services utilize clinical and evidence-based music treatment to support a diverse variety of needs and challenges that arise during the aging process.
Through personalized music-based interventions, we address a range of medical and therapeutic needs in the areas of dementia care, rehabilitation services, hospice and palliative care, life enrichment and emotional wellbeing, family bonding, spiritual care, and more.
Whether working with hospice organizations, assisted living facilities, or directly with individuals and families, we tailor music therapy treatment to the individual’s preferences and abilities and bring the healing power of music to individuals and their loved ones during life’s most meaningful moments.

End of Life Care
Pain management, grief and spiritual care, relaxation, and family connection
MEMORY CARE
Alzheimer’s, Dementia, and Other Memory Diagnoses
We understand that navigating memory loss can be extremely difficult for individuals and their families. Our services are designed to support patients and their families as they transition through the various stages of memory decline.
Recall and Expression Enhancement
Through the use of familiar and improvised music therapeutic techniques, we assist in grounding patients in a way that promotes memory recall, relaxation, and reduced anxiety and depression symptoms.
Family Bonding and Spiritual Care
Our services are tailored to promote family bonding through interactive music-making and facilitated discussion. Patients and their loved ones are encouraged to interact in new ways to connect and grow as a family. Patients are also provided with ways to express/continue their faith journey through music-making.
Socialization
We believe that people of any age and ability never lose the need for socialization and meaningful interactions. Through joint music-making, we assist patients in communicating and interacting with others in whatever manner best suits them through the various stages of their illness.
END OF LIFE CARE
Hospice, Palliative, and End Of Life
Harmony Garden collaborates with hospice companies, palliative care facilities, and directly with families to bring music therapy to individuals nearing the end of life.
Music is a powerful medium for comfort, healing, and connection, offering holistic support to patients and their loved ones during life’s most sacred moments.
Our Services
Pain Management
Therapeutic music-based techniques for pain reduction, muscle relaxation, and comfortable breathing are implemented in one-on-one settings.
Life Legacy Projects
Our life legacy projects offer opportunities for individuals to document their stories, connect with loved ones, and create lasting tributes that celebrate their unique life experiences.
Emotional and Spiritual Wellbeing
Through therapeutic discussion and religious or non-faith-based music making, we help patients and their families address grief, restoration, and opportunities for building positive memories and finding hope in their circumstances.
NEURODEGENERATIVE AND TRAUMA BASED DIAGNOSES
Parkinson’s, ALS, Stroke, and Other Degenerative Diagnoses
Our therapists use music to promote healing, sustain function, and help individuals cope with the emotional journey that is newly-acquired disability.
We believe in the transformative power of music therapy for individuals living with Alzheimer’s, dementia, Parkinson’s disease, and ALS. Our Harmonious Healing approach celebrates the diverse experiences and unique needs of each client, creating equitable and safe spaces for healing, self-expression, and growth.
Our therapists use music to evoke memories, reduce anxiety, and create moments of connection and joy. Each session is carefully designed to meet individuals where they are, honoring their dignity and fostering meaningful engagement.
Rehabilitiation
Music is used to train the brain to re-learn concepts such as walking, speaking, deep breathing, body posture, and more.
Emotional Support
Through music, individuals are encouraged to address their grief and loss, and are given safe space to share and process their emotions. If a patient’s faith is important to them, spiritual care is also provided through music-making and prayer or meditation.
Relaxation
Therapists are trained to help individuals learn to relax their bodies and minds through active music listening as a means of physical and emotional stress reduction and overall improved health.
INTERGENERATIONAL CONNECTION
Generations in Harmony
Our intergenerational music therapy groups are designed to bring energy, laughter, and connection into eldercare communities. Hosted by local nursing homes, assisted living centers, and adult day programs in Jackson, Michigan, these sessions invite early childhood-aged children from our community to share songs, instruments, movement, and smiles with their “Grandfriends.”
Families or eldercare facilities can bring this experience directly to their loved ones by partnering with Harmony Garden to host a group. Whether you’re seeking a weekly highlight for your facility or a special program to brighten your loved one’s day, Generations in Harmony brings music, movement, and joy to everyone involved.
