We have a new summer intern!
We can’t wait for you to meet McKenna. She will be completing her music therapy internship with us for the summer months. McKenna will be leading a variety of individual sessions, groups, and working on their big final project. If you see a new face around, please welcome them and say hi!

Being McKenna means that I have to be full of passion for everything I dedicate myself to. It means building my own community of people who will bring out the best in me. What else does it take? Creativity, curiosity, confidence, expressivity, and resilience. I’m neurodivergent and have always stuck out of a crowd like a sore thumb, especially when I chose a new bright color to put in my hair each month. Somewhere along the way, I became uncomfortable being the trendsetter, but I’m trying to find my joy in that again.
I went to Western Michigan University to study Music Therapy in 2020 and have since been navigating the internship process. I love to sing, and have been singing in choirs since I could walk & talk. I’m looking forward to making music with new and old friends, creating new communities, and learning & experiencing more Music Therapy perspectives. I can’t wait to expand my horizons with you all!
A bit more about me, I have an almost 4-year-old rescue calico cat, Ladyship Lottsworth “Lottie” Lalapalooza, who is my whole world, and she definitely knows it. I am a nature lover and will go out of my way to take a picture of a pretty sunset or perfectly in bloom flowers. Travelling to new places, finding magical hangout spots, or abandoned buildings to explore is one of my favorite hobbies. When I’m not at work, I’m either weightlifting in the gym or out thrifting. I’m mostly a homebody, though, which is where I like to watch YouTube and TV, play games, paint, crochet, and make jewelry.
