Jaime Lawrence, MT-BC

I’m a board-certified music therapist, musician, performer, business owner, wife, and mom based in Jackson, Michigan. I founded Harmony Garden Music Therapy Services in 2006 after earning my bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy from Michigan State University.

For 20 years I have worked as both a direct clinician and the owner of Harmony Garden, developing music therapy services across a wide range of clinical and community settings. My work has included early childhood programs, disability services, hospice and palliative care, eldercare, mental health for teens and adults, school-based services, SED Waiver and Children’s Medicaid Waiver programs, sound healing experiences, recreational music therapy groups, and other specialized programs.

Throughout my career I have focused on building partnerships and creating new opportunities for music therapy services within the communities I serve. This approach has led to the development of numerous contracts and programs designed to meet specific clinical and community needs. In addition to my clinical work, I manage and mentor a team of music therapists through Harmony Garden Music Therapy Services.

I’m an active member of the Great Lakes Region of the American Music Therapy Association and Jackson Business & Professional Women (BPW), and was selected as a 2024 Lean Rocket Lab LOCAL Fellow, a program supporting local entrepreneurs. I remain actively involved in the Jackson arts and nonprofit community, performing with the Harmony Gardeners and serving on the Board of Directors for Center Stage Jackson community theatre, the leadership board at Jackson First United Methodist Church, and the Jackson Collaborative, a network of early childhood organizations working to improve outcomes for young children in our community.

In addition to my work through Harmony Garden, I offer professional consulting and mentorship for music therapists and creative professionals through jaimelawrence.com, where you can learn more about my upcoming publication The First Contractors Playbook and other consulting resources.
