Making a Homemade Ocean Drum

Jaime and her kiddos have been having so much fun making homemade instruments! Today, we added homemade OCEAN DRUMS to the lineup of instruments we have made while going live on facebook. This is a fun craft that you can do with many variations! We had some coloring pages cut to the size of the plate, so that if a child wanted to color an existing page, that was an option. For older kids, they can draw their own underwater scene directly on the plate!

Here is what you will need:
  1. Clear plastic plates
  2. Paper plates
  3. Hot glue gun and glue
  4. Crayons, markers, stickers, etc – anything you want to decorate with
  5. Beads or other dry goods as filler
A few other options if you don’t have clear plastic plates:
  • Plastic cake pans with clear lids (just cut paper to the size of the pan to decorate and hot glue the lid on)
  • Old clear Tupperware that is ready to be up-cycled into something else (just cut paper to the size of the lid to decorate and eventually the lid will be hot glued on)
Once you have made your ocean drums, hop over to our YouTube channel and find a song to play along to! Or, join one of our Livestream Sprouts Classes (for a small donation) and use them to make music with us! We hope you try this with your family and have fun making music together! Show us your OCEAN DRUMS when you are done! Post to our wall, share on a post, or send them privately to Jaime. We are giving away $5 Gift Certificates to the families who participate along with us! Check out our Pinterest Page for other music instrument craft ideas!
